Seeking SOSA Fundraising Volunteer

A Limited and Rewarding Opportunity!

The Secretary of State Award for Outstanding Volunteerism Abroad (SOSA) is one of the most prestigious awards in the Foreign Service community. It was established in 1990 by former Secretary of State James Baker and Susan Baker along with AAFSW, and the Bakers along with other former Secretaries of State still donate annually to the program.

However, since former SecState and donor George Shultz recently passed away, we need some new donation sources. This easy (about 1 hour a week) and very worthwhile volunteer job involves reaching out to more recent former Secretaries of State as well as other potential donors interested in supporting citizen diplomacy and volunteerism abroad.

The SOSA Committee is a great team, and in just an hour a week, you’ll be helping support and publicize the incredible volunteer work done all over the world by Foreign Service employees and family members. If you might be willing to help, please contact office@aafsw.org. Thank you!
