Reflections on Protocol and Design Over Recent Decades

AAFSW cordially invite you to join us for a wonderful and enlightening program by a loved and admired couple. Ambassador Lloyd Nelson Hand, former chief of Protocol under President LBJ, and a current member of the Council of American Ambassadors, and Ann Hand, founder and creator of Ann Hand Jewelry and Design, one of the most distinctive and prominent jewelry design firms in America.

Ambassador Lloyd Nelson Hand is a senior counsel in King and Spalding Advocacy Practice and Public Policy. He provides counsel to U.S. Fortune 500 companies, foreign governments, and institutional clients regarding legislative, administrative, regulatory, and international trade issues, as well as contract negotiations relating to defense and aerospace matters.

Ambassador Hand has a BA in Government and Economics from the University of Texas, and a
LLB.JD. from the University of Texas Law School. He served in the U.S. Navy (as a Lieutenant) and as an Administrator for the Board of Governors School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

We will be thrilled to hear some of his fascinating and lively stories about the diplomatic world – what it was like then… and what the changes are today!

Ann is celebrating 31 years as the founder and creator of Ann Hand Jewelry and Design.We will hear some of her fun stories about her designs that have been worn by some of the most powerful and influential women and men in the nation.

Together, they will enlighten it us with a fabulous program. Ambassador Hand as one of the greatest protocol chiefs ever… and Ann as “jeweler—to the stars!”
