Art & BookFair 2018 at the State Department

Two Weekends in October

Thousands of used books, paintings, art objects, textiles and treasures from around the world plus CDs, DVDs, maps, ephemera, stamps, coins, medals, paper money and much more will be available to the public at Art & BookFair 2018 on two weekends in October – October 6 & 7 and October 13 & 14 from 10 am to 3 pm – at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC.

Since 1961 AAFSW (Associates of the American Foreign Service Worldwide) has been bringing fun and bargains to the State Department at its annual BookFair, one of the oldest continuous used book sales in the Washington metropolitan area. The Art Corner has considerably expanded over the years, and to emphasize this wealth of art items, the event has been renamed Art & BookFair. There is also a Collector’s Corner with rare and unusual books from fine libraries. Our donors have lived all over the world and many items cannot be found in any other book sale.

Art & BookFair 2018 details: Saturday and Sunday, October 6 &; 7 and October 13 & 14, 10 am to 3 pm; in the Diplomatic Exhibit Hall and Tent at the U.S. State Department, entrance on C street between 21 St and 23rd Streets, NW (the side of the building which faces the Lincoln Memorial).  There is limited street parking and it is within walking distance from the Foggy Bottom Metro.

Admission is FREE. On the LAST DAY, October 14, books are HALF PRICE!

VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, AmEx and personal checks are accepted.

A government-issued photo ID is needed to enter the building. Proceeds from Art & BookFair benefit AAFSW community projects and the AAFSW Scholarship Fund. For more information, call 202-223-5796 or email office@aafsw.org.
