Myanmar New Year “1379”
AAFSW and its president, Dr. Joanna Athanasopoulos Owen, were invited to participate in the Celebration of Myanmar New Year “1379” on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Embassy of Myanmar in Washington, DC. During the festivities, the Ambassador of the Union of Myanmar and Mrs. Aung Lynn sang and danced for their guests. They also explained the significance of the presence of water during the Myanmar New Year (Thingyan) Party. No sooner was that discussed than the powerful rain started! All the guests, including all the AAFSW members present, happily partook in the memorable dancing activities that, despite the rain, got funnier, faster, happier, and louder!
Lots of water – lots of luck for a great Burmese Thingyan!
