Guided Tour of the
Diplomatic Reception Rooms
Including the Benjamin Franklin Reception Room
Meet in C Street Lobby, Department of State
Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 12:30 p.m.
The historically evocative Diplomatic Reception Rooms contain a museum-caliber collection of American fine and decorative art (5,000 objects) from the period of 1750-1825.
AAFSW and the AAFSW ART & BOOKFAIR COMMITTEE cordially invite you to enjoy some fun time with our AAFSW volunteers on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at the Department of State. This will be a great opportunity to make new friends and visit the Art Corner and the BookRoom where a lot of our AAFSW members volunteer their time. During a casual lunch or coffee (on your own) at the State Department cafeteria, Anne Kauzlarich, AAFSW Art & BookFair Chair, Sheila Switzer, AAFSW Program Chair, and Dr. Joanna Athanasopoulos Owen, AAFSW President, will discuss the highlights of the AAFSW Art & BookFair and the importance of AAFSW members and friends volunteering during the duration of the Art & BookFair. This year, the AAFSW Art and BookFair will start on October 6, 2017 and end on October 16, 2017. After lunch, Anne Kauzlarich will show us the Art Corner where the AAFSW volunteers select and price donated Art, and the BookRoom, where AAFSW volunteers sell donated books to raise funds for all of the AAFSW wonderful causes, such as scholarships, awards, family crises’ support, etc. Our time together will finish with a guided tour of the State Department Reception Rooms including the spectacular Benjamin Franklin Room.
This AAFSW event is free of charge (however, lunch and/or coffee is on your own). RSVP by Friday, September 8, 2017 to email@example.com and provide your driver’s license (or passport) number and your date of birth. We will all meet at the C Street Lobby entrance of the Department of State on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 12:30 p.m.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 12:30 p.m.
