Born in Japan, Ms. Palmer began her career as an international student advisor at the University of South Carolina, where she discovered her passion for working in an international, cross-cultural setting. She has more than ten years of professional experience providing administrative and leadership support in both academic and corporate environment.

While living in Ghana as a Foreign Service Officer’s spouse, she volunteered with a non-profit organization that provides food, clothing, shelter, and educational support to local women and children. She planned and organized many successful fundraising events, and has conducted some site visits for local organizations on behalf of the grantor NGO to help them make donation decisions. She also served Deutsch Schule Kobe International as a vice chair of the Board, while living in Japan. During her term, the Board has taken many positive steps for the school community, including implementation of the new COVID-19 health policy and improving security in the school building.

Upon her return to Washington, D.C. in 2021, she learned of AAFSW’s services and received tremendous assistance and feels it is her commitment to give back to the diplomatic community through AAFSW. As an adaptable and flexible professional who has a wealth of good communication and interpersonal skills both in the United States and abroad, she hopes that her qualifications will play a role in helping families in the Foreign Service with their changing lives and their well-being.

Outside of work, she is an amateur photographer and enjoys conducting several photo sessions with U.S. Embassy/Consulate families and at social events.
