Jenny Kocher

Jenny Kocher's commitment to service was recognized with AAFSW’s Lesley Dorman Award in 2024. During the 2020 COVID-19 evacuation, she helped coordinate volunteers and support Foreign Service families.  She has been an Eligible Family Member (EFM) since 2011. She first became involved with AAFSW as a volunteer before joining the Board in 2020 as Chair of the Foreign-Born Spouses Committee. Passionate about building community, she led initiatives that connected EFMs worldwide through virtual and in-person programs and later served as Co-Chair of the Employment Committee and Evacuation Support Network. 

Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Jenny has built a diverse professional career. Before joining the Foreign Service community, she worked in hospitality with major hotel chains and in quality assurance as a Project Coordinator. As an EFM, her professional roles have included serving as a Consular Associate at U.S. embassies and consulates in Beijing, Lima, and Guangzhou, working as an EPAP with the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait, and, during a domestic assignment in Washington, D.C., becoming a Realtor and property manager supporting Foreign Service families.

Today, Jenny is based in New Delhi, where she works in the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy. In her free time, she volunteers with a local NGO that empowers women through literacy and practical life skills.

For Jenny, volunteering is an opportunity to use our talents to connect with others, empower communities, and make a positive difference wherever we are in the U.S. or during an overseas assignment.
