Welcome to AAFSW’s new Book Room Manager, Martine Aya Nakpil!

I was born and raised in Burkina-Faso, West Africa, and attended business school there. I am married to Josetito Nakpil, a retired diplomat, and we have three amazing kids. I have traveled and lived with my family in many different countries mainly in the Middle East and Africa. I speak fluent French, English, and three African dialects. My hobbies include jogging and martial arts.

When I returned to the U.S., I contacted the Family Liaison Office to find a job working with people that would use my business skills—and have an international flavor. They introduced me to the wonderful people at AAFSW, who then introduced me to the Book Room and the Art Corner at the State Department. After volunteering there, I was hired as the Book Room Manager and look forward to continuing to work with the great AAFSW crew in support of providing scholarships to deserving Foreign Service youth.
