Celebrating Women’s Roles in The Military

AAFSW Celebrates Women’s Roles in the Military
Saturday, March 4, 2017
Army and Navy Club, Washington, DC

At a wonderful luncheon event at the Army and Navy Club of Washington DC on Saturday, March 4, 2017 the Associates of the American Foreign Service Worldwide (AAFSW) celebrated the significant roles women have had in the military. Natalie Yambrusic, an Army and Navy Club Member, let AAFSW know about this event, which discussed women’s contributions to the U.S. armed forces, whether on the battlefield or the home front, and the major impact these contributions made on the course of history.

AAFSW members Barbara Reioux, Troella Tyznik, Sheila Switzer, and Dr. Joanna Athanasopoulos Owen were present at this luncheon, which included speeches by three incredible women, all from different generations, telling their stories of life in the military. Brigadier General Wilma L. Vaught, USAF (Ret.), Victory Media for Military Spouse Program President Suzie Schwartz, and CPT National Guard Officer Summers Lowe inspired us and filled us with a sense of gratitude to the women who have served their country in various roles and in different ways.
