Meet the 2021 Dorman Award Winner, Cathy Salvaterra

The 2021 winner of the Lesley Dorman Award for lifetime service to AAFSW is Cathy Salvaterra, unanimously chosen by the selection committee consisting of previous Dorman Award recipients. Among many other contributions to AAFSW and the Foreign Service community, Cathy Salvaterra served as Chair of the Secretary of State’s Award for Outstanding Volunteerism Abroad (SOSA) for four years, establishing standard operating procedures for the administration of the SOSA program and spearheading an online history of the award written by Sarah Genton.  In 2010, Cathy began volunteering for AAFSW’s annual Art and BookFair, working weekly in the BookRoom and during the Fair itself. Another Successful AAFSW Awards Ceremony

The annual AAFSW volunteer awards program took place Tuesday, November, 10, 2015 in the Benjamin Franklin Room at the State Department. The ceremony was a success highlighting the volunteer work of nine outstanding individuals. It recognized winners of the Secretary of State Award for Outstanding Volunteerism Abroad (SOSA), the Tragen Award, the Champions of Career Enhancement for EFMs (CCE-EFM) Award, and the Lesley Dorman Award. If you’ve been a member of AAFSW for any time at all, it is likely that you have come across Patricia Linderman, whether you’ve seen her name or met her in person. Patricia has played a huge role in many aspects of AAFSW over the years and it is our privilege to announce that she has won this year’s Lesley Dorman Award.
