Marking the Infinite: Contemporary Women Artists from Aboriginal Australia Tour

AAFSW members and guests are invited to join the Embassy of Australia at The Phillips Collection for a guided tour of the exhibition Marking the Infinite on Wednesday, September 5 at 11:00 a.m. The exhibit showcases the work of nine Indigenous Australian women artists. The works are steeped in ancient cultural traditions, specific to each artist, and yet speak to universal contemporary themes, revealing the continued relevance of indigenous knowledge in the 21st century. On Wednesday, August 1, five superb musicians will perform “5 For the Future: Music of Great Women that Speaks for Those Without Voices” at the State Department’s Dean Acheson Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. The musicians include pianist Jennifer Heemstra, Founder of the Pitch Pipe Foundation and 2016 SOSA winner, two violinists, a cellist, and a violist.
