AAFSW Welcomes Members’ Generosity, and Arlington County Support

Dear AAFSW Members and Friends,

I am extremely grateful to all who have been supporting AAFSW with your generous donations during the last sixty years since AAFSW’s inception and, especially, with your recent contributions during the last few months.

I am also extremely happy to announce that, besides all your recent donations, AAFSW has just received a $5,000.00 grant from Arlington County! The grant application was available to entities in Arlington County with paid employees who reside within Arlington. Thanks to the amazing work of Barbara Reioux, our AAFSW Office Manager, who submitted the application, AAFSW received the $5,000.00 grant! AAFSW will be required to provide a report on how the money has been used by January 2021. Please, check this link.

Also, on Monday, May 11, 2020, AAFSW received an $8,102.00 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan from Bank of America, again a product of the diligent work of Barbara Reioux! After 60 days (on Friday, July 10, 2020), AAFSW will need to submit a Small Business Administration (SBA) loan forgiveness application. If the money has not run out (first come – first serve), AAFSW will keep this money as a grant too. If the money has run out, AAFSW will need to pay back this PPP loan within 6 months at 1% interest.

All of us at AAFSW are very happy for this financial support!

Once again, thank you for all your contributions and donations. Please, continue to support our great organization as much as you all can in your own unique way! It is very much appreciated.

Joanna Athanasopoulos Owen, PhD
AAFSW President
