AAFSW / FBS April Luncheon: Community, History, Food and Fun

On April 17, numerous AAFSW members and guests gathered for lunch at the lovely Vienna home of Jeanie Anklewich. The participants dined on a grand variety of delicious gourmet dishes and enjoyed each other’s company while celebrating spring on this unseasonably chilly day.

Sheila Switzer expertly quizzed everyone with her specially prepared history questions about two notable people born in April: Thomas Jefferson and William Shakespeare. Barbara aced the Jefferson questions and Troella succeeded with the ones about Shakespeare. Guests also learned about another important April celebration: Arbor Day.

It was fun, it was entertaining, it was informative thanks to the history questions that took us back in time, and it was simply a very enjoyable time, like all of the beautiful programs Sheila presents as a gift for all of us to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who attended the AAFSW spring lunch and so sorry for the ones who missed it. This and the other AAFSW events build community and provide friendship and support for Foreign Service community members in the Washington DC area.

Please sign up to volunteer for AAFSW, the best organization on the planet: I guarantee that you will enjoy every moment. And if you haven’t yet joined, I hope you will do so right away! We all look forward to welcoming you.
